Boy Crazy

My sons are beautiful creatures, but I worry that they might become monsters one day

Boy Crazy is a confrontation of painful sexual memories from my adolescence in an effort to become a better mother for my two sons, and to break a chain of generational trauma. Through a collection of symbolic imagery and vulnerable text, I share my emotional journey while contemplating themes of human nature, mental health, assault, motherhood, and personal agency.

This project is a testimony to the power of artistic expression and its potential to usher in personal transformation and societal change. By sharing this work, I aspire to initiate important dialogues about raising boys and cultivating a more empathetic world where mothers, artists, and survivors can find the support and understanding they need.

Boy Crazy was published as a book in 2023 by Workshop Arts. Click here for more information on the book. Upcoming solo exhibitions of the work are planned for Hobart and William Smith College in February, 2025 and Danforth Art Museum in the fall of 2026.
