L & Co.

L & Co is a photographic study of a financially and socially privileged New England family that I know well—it is my own. Turning the camera on my family unveiled an unexpected self-awareness, revealing and unsettling. Through the lens, I found entitlement, bravado, and excess. I also observed implicit expectations, relentless insecurities, and an ironic lack of any ease or comfort.

I ultimately consider this body of work a self-portrait, one that applies a mix of self-deprecating humor, tenderness, and criticism. It is an exploration of the conflict I feel between the respect and love I have for my family and the self-conscious discomfort that I experience in their environment.
